COMMUNITY BRONZE FOUNDRY POURING AT THE JENNY HAMMOND PRIMARY SCHOOL SUMMER FETE
Jenny Hammond School, Worsley Rd
11.30am – 2.30pm for fete, 2pm Live bronze pouring / £1
[dis]tinct is led by visual artists Sally Labern and Jacques Nimki with the Bees: ambassadors from The Jenny Hammond Primary School and, at the Summer Fete, coinciding with the Leytonstone Festival, London Sculpture Workshop lead a Community Bronze Pouring event with their fabulous mobile foundry in the school playground. Molten bronze will be poured into moulds creating 30 pairs of bronze insects designed and made by children and adults from the school as part of an art and science project funded by Arts Council England and JHPS.
[dis]tinct uses the metaphor of extraordinary insects to explore our anxiety around difference and the unknown, shaping a community conversation about the cultural richness and diversity experienced by welcoming people to Leytonstone from all over the world.
